Even before releasing anything, Bleech 9:3 became much talked-about from their thrilling live shows and raw energy and since the announcement of their self-titled debut EP, the hype has not died down. Not only selling out headline tours but also landing spots on a ton of festival lineups (impressive for a band with only 4 singles released), 2026 is going to see them skyrocket.
Earliest releases ‘Ceiling’ and ‘Jacky’ established they aren’t afraid to be completely unfiltered with lyrics that grapple addiction, a past struggle that the group have been open about battling. Through gritty guitar with a distorted twinge and frontman Baz Quinlan’s unpolished vocals, each track makes you feel foggy headed like you are fighting through darkness with them. “I wanna kill the feeling, so sick of feeling nothing” Baz wails on ‘Ceiling’, turning haunting memories into a tense piece of music. The backbone of ‘Jacky’ is Sam Duffy’s remorseless guitar that itches your brain perfectly. Chaotic but crafted to perfection, the track is going to be big.
On next release ‘Cannonball’ the tormented tone is continued. Reckless guitar solos tremble & throb like a mental crashout while a rowdy drum pattern intertwines with brutal bass riffs, reinforcing the distressed feeling. “I cry and try and cry for you” Baz mourns sounding less fierce, more hurt until the final chorus where his vocals verge on shouting.
While their music is sorrowful, at times it’s easy to forget that because of the untamed hooks and wild rhythms that are absolutely designed with mosh pits and energetic gigs in mind. ‘Underrated’ certainly follows form merging a striking lead guitar riff that’s almost irresistible with a pulsating tempo and festival-ready solos.
Last to be revealed, ‘No Surprise’ ties together the collection of music. While fans have already been belting out every lyric to this track at gigs for months now, there was still masses of chatter of excitement for its official release. Baz’s icy vocals open the track, “Am I too late to notice, that I might be in too deep” he recounts. While it begins hushed with only a simple guitar lick, the calm doesn’t last for long, building up with riffs and thumping drums, soon the single is hot-blooded.
Bleech 9:3 represent the pinnacle of everything impressive about upcoming bands in 2026. Unable to be placed into any box, their 90’s vibe mixed with booming riffs and alternative sensibilities that feel fresh and real are turning them into one of the quickest rising groups around and it doesn’t seem like they will be slowing down.
