From time to time, one of our contributors will recommend an artist/band they think deserves  your attention. No record labels, PR companies, bands or band’s management will ever have made these recommendations. It is simply one music fan putting their taste on the line in the hope of sharing good music. The questions are intended to give just a basic introduction to possibly your new favourite artist/band.

So without further ado, let’s crack on with another introduction, in which Silent Radio’s Peter Rea recommends Arre! Arre! for your audible delectation.

● Who are ya?
My name is Katja, I’m the singer and bassplayer in Arre! Arre!. I play together with the most awesome girl gang on the face of the earth: Mattis (guitar), Anna (guitar, song) and Totta (drums).

● Where are you from?
I’m from Malmö, also known as “the dirty south” in Sweden. It’s an industrial city turned into a “knowledge city”, whatever the hell that means.

● How long have you been doing what you’re doing now?
Music? Since I was 7, my best friend’s grandfather taught how to play the piano, my first love in life. The piano, not the grandfather! I’ve been playing in Arre! Arre! since we started the band in 2013.

● Is being a musician your full time job?
No, I never wanted it to be. I need perspective to be able to write lyrics. Although now I’m kind of tired of working so I guess it would be nice to just bury myself in music all of time.

● Are there any obvious influences in your music?
Yeah, I think our influences are quite obvious; Bratmobile, Bikini Kill and so on.

● Are there any not so obvious influences in your music?
Probably James Brown. We always set out to do a James Brown-inspired song when we write an album. We’ve only done two albums and so far so good.

● Any musical Guilty Pleasures? Come on you can share, we’re all friends here!
We are all about guilty pleasures and we’re not afraid of admitting it. Hey, maybe that means that we don’t have any guilty pleasures? Anyway, when we party or warm up before a gig we love to listen to anything from E-Type to Britney Spears.

● Apart from yourself of course, what other band/artist would you recommend our readers check out?
At the moment I’m waiting for more music from our label mates Cherry Pickles, I really love their sound!

● Tell us about the defining moment when you thought ‘Fuck, yes I want to be a musician!’
I think I was about five years old when I told my father the first time that I wanted to be a singer. I don’t know where that came from but I’ve always been fascinated by music and always wanted to “master it”.

● Does what go on, on tour, stay on tour?
I’m not that scandalous so there’s really nothing to tell. I do like to share my drunken stories because I tend to get kind of boundless after a glass of wine or two. I looove to dance!

● What’s your most favouritist gig (as a gig goer), like, ever?
When I saw Shopping for the first time, on my birthday in Copenhagen. LOVE THEM!

● Who, in your wildest dreams would you like to collaborate with/be produced by?
Allison Wolfe, my heroine!

● Best place for people to find out what you are up to?
If you mean what my band is up to then Facebook, Instagram or Twitter. If you mean me as a person then you’d have to come by for a cup of coffee.

● Anything to declare?
See above.

I like to go see fresh new music at Manchester's superb selection of smaller venues, and then share my enthusiasm.
