GIG GUIDE – SEPTEMBER 2026

After an incredible August filled with amazing weather and perfect for live music, it all had to come to an end didn’t it. Summer is gone for another year and we are back to regular rain and grey skies. However, to cheer you up, there is some wonderful live music happening across Manchester to preoccupy you and make you forget about how cold it is going to get. Here is what is happening across Manchester this September.

Shame — Projekts Skatepark – One of the most exciting gigs of September, is another to be played at Projekts Skatepark, recently bands such as KEO and Basement have taken to the underground below Manchester’s Motorways. Next up is Shame. Formed in London 12 years ago, they are credited as one of the first bands revitalising post-punk in the 2010s. Their latest album released just under a year ago to glowing reviews from fans and critics alike, this has been the band’s return to more traditional rock & roll and fans can’t seem to get enough of it. for those lucky enough with tickets for Shame at Projekts, doors are at 6pm.

Wes Banderson — Yes Pink Room – At YES Pink Room, this September is a special treat for those who love music and cinema. Wes Banderson are a cover band that specialise in performing original score and soundtracks from the legendary director Wes Anderson. Dressed in outfits seen in Anderson’s films, fans can expect to hear music from films such as: Fantastic Mr. Fox, The Grand Budapest Hotel, Moonrise Kingdom and many more. This truly is a special experience and the only way to experience the music of some of your favourite films. Doors for Wes Banderson are at 7PM.

Evanescence — Co-op Live – Formed 30 years ago, Evanescence are an incredible blend of gothic rock and alt-metal, from their breakthrough 2003 ‘Fallen’ it quickly became a fan favourite and was one of the most commercially successful albums at the time, earning the band two Grammys. 23 years on from their debut, the band have released 6 studio albums with the most recent being released at the start of June. For a night full of nostalgia with some new hits added in, get to Co-op Live for 6:30pm.

Their debut album ‘The Mess We Seem to Make’ released in 2024 to incredible reviews, and their latest EP ‘Turn Off the TV’ was released in mid-August.

Death Cab For Cutie — Victoria Warehouse – Formed in 1997, Death Cab for Cutie create a wonderful blend of indie rock and pop with masterful songwriting, they have been credited with bringing indie rock into the mainstream in 2005 and have been nominated for multiple grammy awards as well as having high charting singles. At the start of June this year they released their 11^th studio album ‘I Built You a Tower’ which saw the band return to their traditional indie rock whilst still sprinkling in some complex and kinetic arrangements. If you haven’t seen Death Cab for Cutie before, this is a wonderful chance to see the band that have spent three decades perfecting their craft.

Man / Woman / Chainsaw — Gorilla – Man/Woman/Chainsaw have quickly become one of the most talked about names in recent years, it seems you can’t go into any record shop or gig venue without seeing a poster for them. Having recently released their debut ‘Cannonball’ at the start of august, they have already had their name being featured across the music press. Man/Woman/Chainsaw’s gig at Gorilla this month is going to be an early chance to see a band that have the possibility of being massive.
