Breathe This Air featuring vocals from Purity Ring’s Megan James, will be the second single taken from Jon Hopkins’ universally acclaimed Immunity album, already being touted as one of the records of the year. Megan’s vocals transform the track into a vast and shimmering expanse, bringing waves of beautiful melancholy to the original’s dark and dusty techno. The track will be available digitally from 23rd September 2013.
Purity Ring and Hopkins have had a mutual admiration and enduring creative relationship following Hopkins’ mix of Purity Ring’s ‘Saltkin’ and recent remix of ‘Amenamy,’ both taken from their album, Shrines.
Immunity is a confident, dramatic, and multi-faceted record defined by an acute sense of physicality and place. It feels like the hypnotic accompaniment to a journey of creativity – a trip inside Hopkins’ mind, using analogue synthesis alongside manipulations of physical, real-world sounds to make dance music that feels as natural as possible.
