With the sun beaming, and festival season right around the corner, there’s some wonderful events happening right on your own doorstep in the wonderful city of Manchester, why not get out there and bask in the sunshine before it turns into miserable rain again. Here is what is happening in Manchester in May!

 

May 1st
Viagra Boys – Victoria Warehouse – after recently releasing their latest album ‘Viagr aboys’ late last month, the Swedish punk band are taking their blend of all popular genres from over the last 2 decades, out on the road, stopping at Victoria Warehouse. Doors are at 7pm.

May 2nd
Rival Schools – Academy 3
Sorry – Band on the Wall – from a wonderful end to 2024, supporting Irish post-punk act Fontaines D.C., Sorry are keen to get back to the music, with a string of headline shows across the UK. Sorry have received high critical acclaim from outlets such as the NME and Dazed. And 2025 is already shaping up to be a good year for the London indie band.

May 3rd

May 4th
Roger Daltrey – Bridgewater Hall
– whilst you may know him more infamously as the man who wrote some of The Who’s greatest hits such as ‘Pinball Wizard’ and ‘Baba o’ Riley’. Roger Daltrey has had one hell of a career! And now he is taking his wonderful solo act to Manchester’s Bridgwater Hall, in which he will be performing acoustic and semi-acoustic takes on gems from his incredible career.

Sounds of the Other City – Various venues in Salford – Sounds from the Other City, is a festival held in Salford, hosting a variety of new and old bands and artists to play in various venues around the city of Salford. 2025 marks the 20th anniversary of the festival, and to celebrate, legendary Welsh-Cornish musician, Gwenno, has been added to the lineup for the 4th May. This year is going to be a wonderful showcase of music in, and it certainly isn’t one to be missed.

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band – Co-op Live –  It has been nearly 10 years since Bruce Springsteen and the E Street band played in Manchester, and his return, at the UK’s largest indoor arena, is set to be an immense one. With over 6 decades behind him, and some of the greatest hits in Americana, this show certainly is one not to be missed!

Pixies – O2 Apollo Manchester – Last year was a huge one for Pixies. With a brand new album released ‘The Night the Zombies Came’ showed the world that the two years between the last album, were spent grafting on wonderful new music. This gig is held at the spectacular O2 Apollo, one of the oldest venues in Manchester, and it is going to be a wonderful night full of alt-rock heaven!

Tyler The Creator – Coop Live – Parklife 2022 was the last time Manchester saw Alt Hip-Hop titan, Tyler, The Creator. And after the release of his latest album ‘Chromakopia’ fans are in for a treat, infamous for his almost theatrical and highly energetic live shows, if you managed to get tickets before they sold out, buckle your seatbelts!

Wet Leg – Victoria Warehouse – From their effortlessly cool debut single ‘Chaise Longue’. Wet Leg have been the topic of some debate in the music scene, you either love them, or you loathe them, but you cannot deny, they know how to get people talking. With the recent announcement of their second album ‘Moisturizer’ set for a July 11th release, a string of UK shows is going to drum up some serious excitement.
