The Lake District’s award-winning Kendal Calling has announced a second wave of artists playing at this year’s event. As Spring has firmly stuck it’s head through the door, more than 60 new acts are confirmed to join the bill for the first weekend in August.

Frightened Rabbit

Frightened Rabbit

Having headlined the festivities back in 2010 with his band, Doves, Jimi Goodwin is returning to the festival site. His new solo album ‘Odludek’ has already turned heads as he plays almost all instruments featured on it himself.

Then there’s Glasgow’s Frightened Rabbit who will bring their soundscape of heartbreak to the scene, whilst Ocean Colour Scene will be represented by Simon and Oscar with an acoustic set in the Woodlands.

Alongside Jimi Goodwin, there are more Doves-members featured this year as Black Rivers (Jez and Andy from the band) are making an appearance. The epic indie folk of Admiral Fallow finds a perfect home at the beautiful Kendal Calling site. The promising Lewis Watson is a 21 year old acoustic guitar troubadour who will be keen to leave his mark.

For a good dose of indie electronica, Team Me from Norway and The Tea Street Band have been added to the bill, with the latter on course to show why they are one of the best live electronic acts in the UK. Nineteen year old Mirror Signal was already on many ‘One’s To Watch’ lists for 2014 with his soulful voice, combined with slick beats.

These and many more are set to join previously confirmed headliners Suede and Frank Turner and the Sleeping Souls, as well as De La Soul, 2Many DJ’s, Miles Kane, Happy Mondays, Tom Odell, Clean Bandit, Bondax, Gorgon City, Ella Eyre, Andy C, Zane Low, Newton Faulkner and Mr Scruff.

Besides just offering a wide variety of artists to any kind of musical taste buds, Kendal Calling is continuing its cultural offering with an eclectic array of performance art, comedy and spoken word. Together with gourmet food and a real ale festival, as well as a dedicated children’s Arena, Kendal Calling is set to be another hit for 2014.
