Manchester’s Sprinters share ‘Figure It Out’ taken from their upcoming self titled debut LP due Friday 5th May 2017 on vinyl & digital platforms via Icecapades (Slowcoaches, Sex Hands, Joey Fourr etc.). ‘Figure It Out’ is the first taste from their debut album in which they deliver a golden pop-tinged track that boasts potent, softly woven guitar riffs, and a hazy melody. Tour dates follow this, including an album launch at The Castle Hotel pub in Manchester on its release day; see all tour dates below.

Sprinters is the band’s first studio effort, and was recorded (mostly) live in Wigan throughout 2016 with a friend of the band, local engineer Ste Jones (Ex-Moco). Comprised of a selection of songs from Sprinters founding member Neil Jarvis’s solo albums and new material, the record proved to be a labour of love. Taking just under 12 months to piece together, Sprinters have emerged with a pure departure record, heavy on hooks, melodic and lyrical interplay, and a more clear and honed sound than their previous lo- fi recordings. Jarvis cites some of his major influences for the process as: The Replacements, Pavement, Neil Young, Ariel Pink, and The Velvet Underground.

Of the album Neil Jarvis said: “It took a lot longer than planned (just over a year). At one point it was almost the death of the band: I became very meticulous on how I wanted it to sound. It was my first time in a studio, and I didn’t like not having full control of the sound. Before then I’d record at home on a 4 track which really was all I was familiar with. Things got a bit tense. We ended up re-recording lots of songs which probably didn’t even need re-doing. We then spent a good while mixing it. Luckily, the engineer Ste Jones is one of the funniest people we know, and kept the vibe light with his obscene humour. We spent most of the sessions joking around, and it made it much more bearable.”
