Du Blonde, the new project of Beth Jeans Houghton, will release her new album next month.

Welcome Back to Milk was produced by Bad Seed and Grinderman member Jim Sclavunos, and also features a guest spot from Future Islands frontman Samuel T Herring.

The album will be released on Mute on May 18, and she will head out on tour including a date at the Deaf Institute on June 9.

Du Blonde said the inspiration for her new project came while visiting the David Bowie exhibition at the V&A in London.

She said: “When I was a kid, my idea of being a musician came from all these big characters – Bowie, Bolan, Beefheart.

“I had this moment in front of all these chapters of his life: this is what I want to do and I haven’t done it for all of these years.

“All this stuff that was really important to me in the beginning, all of the creativity, emotional expulsion, I’d just lost all of that. It was such a sad moment, but also good – because you can’t change it unless you realise.”
