Mixing an energetic blend of punk, ska and northern soul with a healthy dose of pop sensibility and hometown swagger The Minx have been tearing up venues around the UK collecting an ever growing fanbase. With support from Mike Joyce (The Smiths), Jennie Matthias (The Belle Stars), Tom Hingley (Inspiral Carpets) and a number of North West based promoters their live shows are not to be missed.

Performing at sold out support shows for the likes of Badly Drawn Boy, The Fall, Tim Burgess (The Charlatans), Kid British, Neville Staples (The Specials) alongside appearances at Kendal Calling, where we are set to return again this year, a number of major Scooter rallies and FOM Festival amongst others, their energetic and refreshing live performances are gaining notoriety throughout the North West.

They holed up in Blueprint Studios, home of Elbow’s Mercury winning and multi-platinum selling ‘The Seldom Seen Kid’, for the early part of 2012 recording their debut 3 track single, No Friends. Capturing the intensity of their live shows with a heady mix of melody and northern groove.

The release was supported by a number of headline shows and a return to the Kendal Calling festival this summer. It has received support and rotated airplay from a number of digital and online radio stations including Revolutionary Radio, Amazing Radio and the newly launched Beatwolf Radio.

Lead track No Friends has been described as “Bringing back classic British guitar rock to the Manchester music scene”. Dripping in northern attitude, No Friends is a fairground frenzy. With fuzzy guitar and punk vocals ringing in your ears, you are left wondering, ‘Who needs friends?’.” ‘Scoops’ and ‘Cold Outside’ showcase their energy and melody and their love of the 3 minute pop song. With a nod to the past and a firm grip on the future there is much more to come from The Minx, they are the sound of modern British youth.
