From time to time, one of our contributors will recommend an artist/band they think deserves  your attention. No record labels, PR companies, bands or band’s management will ever have made these recommendations. It is simply one music fan putting their taste on the line in the hope of sharing good music. The questions are intended to give just a basic introduction to possibly your new favourite artist/band.

So without further ado, let’s crack on with another introduction, in which Silent Radio Editor Vic Turnbull recommends RedFaces for your audible delectation.

● Who are ya?

I’m Harry the lead singer in RedFaces a rock n roll band from Sheffield

● Where are you from?

I’m from dronfield, just between Sheffield and chesterfield but neither place wants to take ownership of it. You don’t wanna go, there’s nothing there trust me!

● How long have you been doing what you’re doing now?

Well me personally I started playing guitar since a young age and I’ve always been into music and that but as a band we have always been friends before we started playing together. We sort of started the band 2 years ago and have been playing gigs since. We are just enjoying what we are doing.

● Is being a musician your full time job?

I guess in a sense it is. I don’t think of it that way though cos I just enjoy it too much to see it like that. To make a career out of it seems amazing and surreal. Like when we started the band we never set out for it to go that far we just enjoyed playing. But now we’re sort of making a name for our selves I hope we can make a career out of it. That’s the dream anyway

● Are there any obvious influences in your music?

I don’t think you can see one artist in particular that we are influenced by because we are influenced by so many different ones. We don’t however want to wear our influences to much on our sleeve. Although we’re influenced by many different eras it’s 2015 and we want to  be one of the biggest bands of our time.

● Are there any not so obvious influences in your music?

We have a few. A lot of the harmonies in our songs are influenced by bands like goldheart assembly who are kinda different to the sound of our stuff. I can’t say we are influenced by much chart music or many pop artists though. They sound all the same to me.

● Any musical Guilty Pleasures? Come on you can share, we’re all friends here!

This is getting personal now! Umm not that many if I’m honest. My biggest guilty pleasure is probably s bit Michael bubble at Christmas!! Other than that there’s nothing I’m ashamed of!

● Apart from yourself of course, what other band/artist would you recommend our readers check out?

In terms of under the radar artists, BANG BANG ROMEO are good, Adelphi, Heartshakes and Conor Houston are all great Sheffield artists! I know bands like Pretty Vicious and VANT are all doing well too.

● Tell us about the defining moment when you thought ‘Fuck, yes I want to be a musician!’

There wasn’t a special moment of anything! I just played guitar from a young age started singing developed a good music taste. And hence forth thought like you say: ‘fuck, yes I want to be a musician!’

● Does what go on, on tour, stay on tour?

Dunno really we haven’t been on a tour! And anyway the only thing we do on tour is watch stupid videos, throw grapes at people and annoy the crew. It’s really not that glamorous!!

● What’s your most favourite gig (as a gig goer)?

I went to see Noely G at Nottingham a few months back. He’s been a massive part of my inspiration as a songwriter so I would have to say that gig was my favourite!

● Who, in your wildest dreams would you like to collaborate with/be produced by?

Stephen street! Love all the smiths and blur stuff! He’s a legend!

● Best place for people to find out what you are up to?

Facebook, Twitter or Instagram if you’re that way inclined. They’ll tell you what we are doing and all that stuff! We are on spotify if you’re looking for songs!!

● Anything to declare?

Yorkshire puddings are the way forward! It’s the future jerry!
