Sufjan Stevens will play his first ever UK festival show when he headlines End of the Road Festival in September.

The songwriter will play the event, which is held at Larmer Tree Gardens in Wiltshire, on Saturday, September 5.

He joins the previously announced headliners Tame Impala, who are currently readying their third album and play on Friday, September 4,  and The War on Drugs, who will close the festival on Sunday, September 6.

Other acts on the bill include Future Islands, Django Django, Pond, Alvvays, Fat White Family, Sleaford Mods and BC Camplight.

Stevens’ rare festival appearance will mark the release of his new album, Carrie & Lowell, which will be released on March 30 through his own label, Asthmatic Kitty Records.

The 11 track album marks a return to his folk roots, and is named in tribute to his mother and stepfather.

A teaser trailer for the record has been released on YouTube.
